Extra Fudgy, finger lickin' good!
2 cups almond butter or peanut butter
1 cup applesauce
1/2 cup almond milk or milk of choice
1 tbsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup flour, such as oat, white, or almond
1 cup sugar or sugar replacement, such as stevia
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a 9x13 pan with parchment. If nut butter is not soft, gently heat until stir-able. Combine the first four ingredients in a bowl. Stir the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients into wet ingredients and stir well to combine. Smooth into prepared pan. Place on the center rack, bake 14 minutes – they will look underdone when you remove them. Let bars cool, then loosely cover and let the pan sit either on the counter or in the fridge and allow them to firm up.
Once firm and cool, cut yourself a bar, top with whipped cream (if desired), and try not to eat the whole pan!
